Application lifecycle management for Windows Azure disclosed during GetTogether session

Posted on August 01st, 2012

Time flies. Indeed, we just ran the sixth edition of the GetTogether summer session with  BBQ on June 19th 2012. The location for this event has traditionally been brasserie “Den Blakken” in Wetteren. And there was no reason for doing otherwise this year.

During the summer edition of our GetTogether event the format is slightly different. We receive our guests with a cold drink around 18h00, start the presentation quite early afterwards to leave enough time to enjoy the BBQ and peer to peer talks. This year was no different.

We managed to engage Kurt Claeys (Microsoft Platform Strategy Advisor Azure)  to talk about application lifecycle management for Windows Azure. During his presentation, Kurt explained very clearly what Azure is all about. Short theoretical talks were complemented with extensive real life demonstrations on how Azure has to be activated, configured and used. All this with a software developer’s focus. Since the majority of the attendees are indeed developers this approach was much appreciated. The animated Q & A session had even to be terminated diplomatically in order to start the BBQ on time!

And as always the lovely gardens of brasserie “Den Blakken” were the perfect scene for a well stuffed BBQ buffet with amongst other things meat, fish, vegetables and pasta. The friendly staff and the sweated cook did an excellent job in offering us a great evening. Even the weather was on our hand so we could sit and eat in the patio of the brasserie.
