Movie night edition 2010 only moderate success

Posted on January 14th, 2011

For the second time in the Queaso history we organized a movie night. Only a handful of people accepted our invitation to join us for a well stuffed program on October 31st in Antwerpen.

Although we were little in headcount the movie theater De Klapei was once more the perfect place to enjoy a fine selection of tree extraordinary movies. Our “moviemaster” Jelle put together a program with a personal touch around the following films:

True Romance Not only was True Romance written by the Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott but this masterpiece is also stuffed with a superb cast: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gandolfini, … Anyone with a soft spot for crimemovies, overwhelming conversations, excessive violence and unique situations combined with superb acting performances must attend this movie. Certainly when you want to know what you beter not say to a mobster when he’s questioning you. Caution: Some scenes in this movie are not suited for the weaker souls
True Romance Secondhand Lions is a movie I’d like to recommend to everybody. If you’ve never seen it, this is your big opportunity. In this fantasy-, family-, adventure-comedy, two icons of the moviehistory – Michael Caine and Robert Duvall – in the leading roles are accompanied by a young, upcoming talent Haley Joel Osment (Forrest Gump, The Sixth Sense, Artificial Intelligence: AI, …). Relaxing, entertaining, funny and a very strong story makes this one of my favorites of this century (although it merely begun). Check it out, as long as you’re not expecting a profound thriller are a psychological drama, I guarantee that you’ll be enjoying this one
True Romance The big revelation of last year! One of the best type-castings I’ve ever seen in a terrific story that – of course – opens the door the a whole new series of Star Trek without having to respect all the previous series and movies. Don’t be mistaken, even those non-trekkies out there can enjoy this great sci-fi production. Of course a little knowledge of the Star Trek series will help you enjoy some of the many references

We kicked-off around noon with a sandwich buffet and did not go home until late in the evening after the last pizzas were digested. Due to the fact that we had to deal with a lot of no-shows the pile of left over food was enormous. A warm call for the participants of the next movie night, that will be organized during the second part of 2011, to actually be there when you register for the event. Even if it’s for free …
