GetTogether on Development Life Cycle and Predictability

Posted on November 05th, 2010

A rather small but interested audience attended our last GetTogether session on development life cycle and predictability. Queaso Systems organized the gathering in the beautiful city of Mechelen on Tuesday 28th of September 2010. Location for the event was the Novotel in the city center.

As tradition wants we started with some food and beverage to welcome the attendees, both Queaso Systems’ team members and guest. As a GetTogether is an open event we are more than happy to welcome everybody interested in the topic on the agenda.

This time we invited the people from Info Support to talk to us about their environment for development life cycle and predictability, called Endeavour. This is a software factory in which the production process and the production resources are highly standardized and structured. It offers a proven approach for evolutionary software development, maintenance and management on the product family of enterprise (custom-made) administrative applications. This manufacturing-like approach will guarantee improved software development quality, improved project predictability and high productivity, resulting in a shorter time-to-market and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Tim Mahy, the speaker of the evening, did a perfect job: give us an overview of the tool and methodology in a limited timeframe. Some interesting questions and answers concluded the academic part of the evening. The full presentation of Tim can be watched here.

Downstairs, in the lobby of the Novotel hotel, the contemplation exercise on how to organize and manage a software factory went on for quite some time. No doubt, the fine beers served helped to loosen the tongue and kept the conversation going.
