Exceptional GetTogether event closes working year 2007

Posted on December 12th, 2007

On Tuesday 27th of November about thirty enthusiastic gaming nerds gathered in Mechelen for what was to be the last GetTogeter event for this working year.

Attracted by the idea of getting to know Microsoft XNA better our guests popped in early that evening in hotel Gulden Anker situated in the neighbourhood of Mechelen centre. As usual a bite and a drink are awaiting them.
It was literal a close encounter with the Microsoft gaming technology since the conference room at our disposal for this event was rather small. We should have known better: gaming is hot!

Nevertheless the environment was just right to let the beast go. Lecturer on duty was Brecht Kets, involved with digital arts & entertainment at Howest Department PIH. He started off with an overview of the XNA framework. Afterwards a mini workshop was conducted demonstrating the basic ins and outs of game development. The life construction of a code example with Microsoft XNA Studio Express concluded the official part of the evening.

It is almost becoming a tradition, but to end the enjoyable GetTogether evening we all meet in the hotel lobby. Drinks are on Queaso Systems and in the meanwhile various conversations are held covering our IT profession. And other things, of course …
